Zanzibar Cleft Camp at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital 11 children with clefts were operated successfully between October 28 and November 1, 2024. During this time, SQF completed plans and agreements to add the following services for Zanzibar and Tanzania at large:

1. Pre cleft surgery Nutrition rehabilitation
2. ⁠Free Speech therapy for all patients with clefts
3. ⁠Orthodontics services for all patients with clefts who need orthodontics surgery.

Our partners, Forever Smile Foundation (FSF) from Kansas City, Georgia USA brought nutrition formulas and donated money to support children with clefts from poor families where Dr. Patrick Christopher, the director for FSF represented FSF and he participated in cleft surgeries throughout, meanwhile Louise Bloomhead, a nutritionist from Australia was in presence to facilitate standard operating procedures (SOPs) & protocols for nutrition rehabilitation for malnourished children with clefts.

Hon. Ahmed Nassor Mazrui, the minister of health Zanzibar thanked SQF for the continued cleft care services in Zanzibar and he promised on behalf of the government of Zanzibar, to continue supporting SQF all the way.
